Cleansing your face: our tips for deeply cleansed, purified skin.
Cleansing your face is essential for beautiful skin and a glowing complexion. This seemingly simple daily ritual calls for precision timing and special skincare treatments to be truly effective.
So, what's the right way to cleanse and wash your face? Should you do the same things and apply the same products every morning and evening? Actually, do you really need to cleanse your skin twice a day? This article has the answers you're looking for.
Why should you cleanse your face?
Like every other part of the body, the skin on the face eliminates some of the waste it secretes via pores on its surface. But this process can often be impaired:
- Over the course of the day, a variety of contaminants such as pollutants, dust, sweat, sebum, dead cells, and leftover makeup can accumulate on the skin and clog the pores. As a result, the skin is unable to breathe, which leads to a loss of elasticity and radiance. This, in turn, can lead to the development of imperfections like blackheads and pimples.
- Overnight, cell regeneration processes are stepped up, helping to eliminate dead skin cells that then migrate to the surface of the epidermis
So, even if you don't wear makeup, it's essential to cleanse your face every day to remove any debris! It’s also the first step in preparing the skin to receive treatments and facilitate their absorption.
The best time to cleanse your face.
Morning and evening, or only in the evening? There are a few possibilities depending on your needs, your skin type, and how your skin reacts to the treatments you use.
Cleansing your skin in the evening is essential.
The use of a facial cleanser in the evening is essential. The skin needs to be cleansed of makeup (if you use it) and any contaminants that have built up throughout the day (pollution particles, sweat, sebum, etc.).
The benefit of only washing your face in the evening is that it’s not as harsh on your skin and your microbiota (the protective bacteria found on the surface of the skin) will be better preserved.
Cleansing your skin in the morning is optional!
Depending on your skin type and your skin's tolerance, you can also cleanse in the morning to remove any excess sebum , sweat, and dead cells that have built up overnight. This morning cleanse will be considerably gentler, as you did a deep cleansing the night before.
The right way to cleanse your skin for a glowing complexion.
Properly cleansing your face means following a beauty routine and using the right techniques.
Gentle cleaning.
Even if you don't wear makeup, start by gently cleansing your face with our with our cleansing oil to remove excess sebum and pollution particles. Apply to dry skin, massage and rinse.
If you have sensitive skin, you can switch out the foam for our makeup-removing micellar solution, which is gentler.
Deep cleaning
The second stage involves deep cleansing to remove dead skin cells and stimulate cell renewal. To do this, use our enzymatic cleansing foam, which will remove any contaminants and any residue of your day cream.
Gently massage (don't scrub) onto moistened skin, and then rinse with warm water. Avoid using water that's too hot (you shouldn't wash your face in the shower), as this can damage and dry out your skin.
If you have oily skin, FILORGA's experts recommend using our cleansing gel, which contains hydroxy acids that help to regulate excess sebum and gently smooth out the skin.
Exfoliate skin
After cleansing your skin, use our enzymatic exfoliating cream to unclog pores and reduce blackheads. Thanks to papain enzymes and volcanic rock beads, it provides a double enzymatic and mechanical exfoliation that is suitable for sensitive skin. Use twice a week on damp skin. Massage for 2 minutes, then rinse.
Perfecting your facial cleansing routine.
After cleansing and before applying any treatments, use our OXYGEN-PEEL micro-peeling lotion. This should only be applied in the evening, using a cotton pad. This lotion brightens up the skin by carefully removing dead cells to prepare it for any night treatments.
After thoroughly cleansing and purifying your skin, gently pat your face dry with a soft towel. You can now apply your usual treatments.
